About The Vidyalaya


The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Jibantala, District S. 24 Pgs. was established in 05-11-2009 and started functioning in a temporary site. The complex is in the mass education centre at Mathurapur has an administrative block and residential block along with the playgrounds, Much efforts is being taken for maintenance of the entire complex which now gives much facility to all the students in this Vidyalaya to have a free movement, games, yoga, P.T. parade etc. all within the school campus. Now the Vidyalaya is having 27 students and has 16 staff (both teaching and non-teaching) members.

The Vidyalaya has been working under Ministry of Human Resource Development in the Department of Higher Education & School Education, Government of India. The Vidyalaya is co-educational residential school fully financed by the Government of India through an autonomous Organization, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.

The Vidyalaya is basically to encourage and promote talent predominantly from rural areas and weaker sections of the district and to provide them with quality modern education for their all-round development.

The Vidyalaya is a model of pace-setter institution in the district and is a resource center for promotion of excellence.

  • Split-up syllabus & lesson plan:
  • Split up syllabus received from NVS, will be followed from VII to XII, for class VI the concerned subject teacher will prepare break-up of syllabus according to the chapter- wise weight age. The subject teachers will prepare fortnight lesson plan and submit the same to the principal, Day- wise teaching learning activities are recorded in teacherís diary and submitted to the principal by concerned teacher.

  • Syllabus completion:
  • As per Samiti norms it is planned to complete the syllabus and it reviewed by the principal at the end of the month.

  • ICT in academics:
  • To strengthen the teaching and learning process this year it has been decided to incorporate computer technology in classroom teaching and learning process to tickle the young minds for effective learning. One computer has been given by the District Magistrate and computer classes are being arranged.

  • Remedial teaching:
  • It is decided to identify slow learners class-wise and subject-wise from the beginning of academic year. Separate guidance and counseling will be provided along with remedial teaching. The progress of the slow learners will be reviewed by the principal and brought to the notice of the parents on the PTC meeting as well as parents day.

  • Testing & evaluation Programme:
  • Along with class room interaction and oral quiz it is also planned to conduct Formative Assessment and assignment as per the continuous comprehensive evaluation (CCE). After evaluation by concerned subject teachers, the concerned class teacher will prepare progress reports and same will be submitted to the principal for review of result in the staff meeting. The progress reports are distributed to the parents on parents day of every month.

  • Subject Enrichment:
  • Apart form available resources from library and internet sources, it is also decided to form different subject committee and clubs under the chairmanship of the principal and to conduct various activities throughout the year.

  • Imparting students with quality education and in Vidyalaya. The staff dedicate their service to develop talent among children who joins the Vidyalaya.
  • The Vidyalaya strives to attain competence in three languages namely English, Bengali and Hindi.
  • The Vidyalaya dedicates to serve in the District as a focal point for improvement in quality of school education in general through sharing of experiences and facilities.

A detailed plan of action is enclosed for organizing year long Games and Sports activates. Inter House / Inter Class / Individual Games & Sports activities should be planned. Week, month-wise planning is mentioned in Annual Calendar.


There are four houses, named as Aravali, Nilgiri, Shivalik and Udaygiri. Each house constitute a heterogeneous group of students from class VII. House activities, attendance, sick register etc., are maintained by the housemasters / mistresses. Students are divided in to group squads. The squads will take care of the hygienic conditions & tidy arrangements in their houses and submit daily report to their Housemasters.


Morning assembly is conducted house-wise and students will take part in various activities under the guidance of respective House Master / House Mistress. Thought for the day , Navodaya Prayer , News, G.K and presentation of any special item and Pledge are accompanied . The duty Master on that day gives a message and if necessary the Principal gives his observations.


Subject committee meetings are scheduled to discuss the learning difficulties of the students, coverage of syllabus, subject developmental activities, periodic progress of the students etc.


Examination I/C conducts different Formative Assessment and Summative Assessment as per the guidelines of the split up of syllabus month wise given by the NVS perspective planning. Also |Unit Test will be conducted month wise. Time-table for assignments and oral tests .quiz and projects have been planned by the examination in-charge.


Lesson plan and lesson notes are the two important aspects in class room teaching. All subject teachers are asked to use computers to prepare lesson plan and lesson notes for effective class room teaching. The subject teachers prepare teaching aids and projects related with the lessons for easy understanding by the students.


A detailed calendar of Co-curricular activities plan of action has been developed by the CCA committee. This will ensure the students to develop skills in various fields ultimately leads to the all round development.


The Vidyalaya has only one computer. Even then the various activities taken up under computer education and ICT are..

  1. Extending computer education to the near by Vidyalayas.
  2. Preparing and presenting various projects and activities in the lab
  3. Developing tools for an effective teaching
  4. Integrating technology with class room teaching.

A mess committee is formed with the students and teachers as its members. The committee meets to discuss the various areas in mess and decides the menu, subject to availability of fund and items. The Mess In-charge is the Coordinator of the Committee.
